To kick off our investigations into ‘People and Places’, Year 1 had a visit from the Newtown Fire Brigade yesterday.  The boys got to use the fire hose and try on the heavy jacket the fire fighters wear when attending a fire.  There were lots of opportunities to ask questions and we even learned how to Stop, Drop and Roll if our clothes were alight. Even though our visit was cut short when they received a call to attend to an emergency, (this created much excitement for the boys seeing them get ready for action) the morning was filled with much excitement and enthusiasm.
