A Message from Mr Holden

It has been another busy few days at Wyvern. Our Year 4 students have enjoyed some time away from school to participate in the outdoor education program. The Year 4 camp to Kincumber has provided many opportunities for the boys to be challenged; from physical activities, team building tasks as well as spending 2 nights away from home. I thank our staff team, led by Mr Brayley for their efforts in ensuring the boys have been very well cared for whilst away at camp.

Years 3 and 5 students have taken part in NAPLAN testing this week. They are to be commended for their calm and positive approach to the assessments, which form one part of the picture of how students are progressing. Our approach to NAPLAN is to ensure anxiety levels are minimised so boys can be themselves at their best. We expect the results to be available to parents towards the end of Term 3.

A huge thank you and congratulations to the many Wyvern families and staff who took part in the Mother’s Day Classic event on Sunday to raise awareness and critical funding for breast cancer research. Your superb effort means that the Wyvern community are the top fund-raising team nationally raising over $31,000 for this very important cause. I thank the Wyvern P&F for all their efforts in organising this event.

A quick reminder that the Musical Showcase for Years 3-6 students will take place next week on Tuesday 18 May at 6.00pm in Centenary Hall. We look forward to seeing you there. Please note that 2 adults per family can attend and Covid check in is required. Pending the latest NSW Government Covid advice, we will update you early next week to confirm if audience members need to wear face masks.
