A Message from Mr Holden
Book Week
This week has been Book Week with the theme ‘Champion’s Read’. Once more Wyvern students have had great opportunities to be inspired by visiting authors, to be involved in exciting activities and to visit our comprehensive Book Fair in the library. Our library team of Mrs Joanne Barnes and Mrs Andrea Turner have done great work in preparing such a stimulating program and I thank them for their efforts.
I thank the SRC, students, parents and teachers for a magnificent response to our “Room to Read” fund raising project with all money raised funding new libraries and supplying books to schools in Cambodia. The initial target of Wyvern raising $1000 has been significantly exceeded. The final total of money raised for this worthwhile cause is a remarkable $3,321.30.
Class Allocation 2013
The process for allocating students to next year’s classes is thorough and starts in Term 4. As part of this process some parents may feel that they can assist by offering additional information about their son. Should you wish to express a view about the style of classroom management you feel may best suit your son (e.g. particularly nurturing or greater structure) I invite you to contact me via email before the end of this term. Please note that I cannot consider requests submitted later than this deadline.
Requests for particular teachers or for a teacher based on his or her gender will not be considered in this process. Whilst we do welcome parental input in the process, the school has the final say in decisions regarding class placement for 2013.
Study Leave
Finally, I notify you that I will be away from school next week (3-7 September) for a week’s study leave. In my absence, Ms Sandra Gray will step in as Acting Head of Wyvern so do feel free to contact her over any issues that she can assist you with.
Mr Ian Holden
