A Message from Mr Holden

Congratulations to all boys from Years 3 – 6 for their wonderful efforts at the cross country carnival this week. The energy, commitment and tenacity on display was inspiring. Special congratulations to our age Champions and runners-up for their high quality performances. These students, along with the other leading runners, will go on to represent Newington at the Inter-Schools’ IPSHA Cross Country event on Saturday 5th April. We wish them every success in this very competitive event.

I congratulate Thomas Oates, Nicholas Venetoulis and Sebastian Parhash who have been selected to represent IPSHA schools at the Combined Independent Schools’ Swimming Carnival to be held next week. The same excellent level was also achieved by Mark Addabbo and Angus Ole in Basketball who competed at a recent tournament. Finally, I congratulate Ned Barnet-Hepples for his outstanding achievement in being selected to play for the Combined Independent Schools Cricket team in a recent tournament. Ned is also on the reserve list for the CIS AFL team.  Well done to all.

I am delighted to see so many students placing their own poems on our ‘Poetree’ (created by one of our very talented Art teachers, Mrs Bourke) located outside the Library. This special activity marks ‘World Poetry Day’. I do encourage you, if you get the chance, to take a look at the wonderful contributions boys have made – the quality of the poems is exceptional.
