The Newington Chess team came 1^st in the Inter-School Chess Challenge semi-finals on Monday 24^th August with Kim Long Lam on 4 points, Kieran Casey on 4.5 points, Hamish Thompson on 5 points and Fallon Fotaras on 6 points. Each player played a total of 7 games. Fallon also won the individual 1^st place prize.

The team also played in the Metropolitan East Region Final on Wednesday 26th August against Sydney Grammar Edgecliff. The team did very well, but sadly lost 5-3 and will not proceed to the next round.

Even though the boys lost, they still have another chance at glory in the Inter-School Chess Challenge final on 11^th September.
