Congratulations
Black Belt – Hugo Emery
On Monday 3rd September, Hugo Emery become the youngest member of the Kwan Ki Do school in Erskineville to achieve his Black Belt. Only 4 Black Belts including Hugo’s have been earned at the school over the past 10 years making this a remarkable achievement for a 10 year old.
Hugo has been attending the Kwan Ki Do school for 5 years which teaches a combination of Taekwondo and Hapkido (self defence discipline).
As part of his 45 minute grading Hugo had to break 8 pieces of wood, do countless kicking and punching combinations, 8 Hapkido self defence movements and was asked to show 3 of his 8 patterns all with 18 movements in them. He also had to present to his master a 500 word essay on the History of Tae Kwan Do.
Brilliant grading and fantastic result. Well done Hugo.

Wyvern Boys in Winning Team in U10’s Grand Final
Congratulations to the six Wyvern boys who were a part of the winning U10’s Petersham team – The Shammies (Hugo Emery, Cooper Davey, Thomas Ilinkovski, Justin Martin, Asher Baykitch & Tom Larkings) These Wyvern boys played in the Grand Final for the U10 G’s against Mosman and came out on top with a 31-24 win. The Shammies were the minor premiers for the U10G’s for 2012 and capped off a great season with a nail biting grand final win on Sunday at Keirle Park, Manly – making Father’s Day all the more special for the dads. It was a hard fought battle between the two teams and it could have gone either way. The Shammies dug deep, defended brilliantly and with great passing of the ball managed to secure the championship.
The game was played with great sportsmanship and team spirit. All the boys should be very proud of what they have achieved.

Wyvern Boys Runner-Up in Grand Final
Congratulations to Callum Latham (Yr 3), Eden Horne (Yr 4) and Cassie Horne (Yr 3) who played in the U10 Division H Sydney Junior Grand Final on September 2nd for Hunters Hill U10 Blues. The game was held at Manly against Chatswood. Hunters Hill U10 Blues played very well and almost got over the top of a much larger team, but eventually went down 17-12 in a very close match. The club rugby has been a great learning experience for the boys and they should be very proud of their efforts.
Try Scoring Whiz – George Evans (2L)
George Evans has been a try scoring whiz for the Lane Cove Tigers this season while playing in the North Sydney Junior League. The quick stepping Evans has demonstrated his natural ability by nabbing an incredible 57 tries in the U7 mini League. It is the most tries scored by an U7 rugby league junior throughout Australia in 2012 and an example of George’s blistering pace and evasive skills.
