BACK TO NEWINGTON DAY – 7TH SEPTEMBER 2013 10.00AM – 4.00PM
Help us celebrate this amazing year!
WHAT IS BTN?
Many years ago the Rowing Association wanted to purchase new boats for rowing. As the boats are unique hand crafted imported boats, they came at a large cost so the Rowing Support Group developed a market day where all the boys would come to the school when a sporting event was on and they had markets and BBQ’s to raise funds for the boats. Since that time the day has been put into the school calendar as Back To Newington Day to celebrate all things Black & White. Wyvern takes part in the event, as many of our boys will head across to the senior campus in later years. Wyvern will have an area set up with the following activities mainly focused around children’s activities:
- Jumping Castle
- Big Slide
- A Dunking Machine (yes come and get wet)
- Face Painting/Tattoo’s
- Sand Art/Plaster Painting
- Smash A Jaffa
- Lucky Dips
- Balloon Making
- Badge Making
- Chocolate Dipped Strawberries
- Strawberry & Marshmallow Skewers
- Black & White Lollipops
- Slushies – Cola and Raspberry
HOW CAN YOU HELP?????
We have organised everything so all we need is your time. Please come along and volunteer for 1-2 hours throughout the day to help Nicole from CAST in all the sections. Click here for volunteer roster. We do not require any skills as we have engaged in a professional face painter (everyone sigh with relief) but we do need you to add to the experience of the day with your family. Come along and enjoy the day, watch the games and see the clash of the 1st XV rugby and 1st XI football in their final games against Shore.
Please contact Nicole Newson at nicnewson@msn.co
FATHER’S DAY BREAKFAST
The annual Wyvern Father’s Day Breakfast will be held on Friday 30th August at 7.30am in Wyvern Hall. The Breakfast is open to all fathers and grandfathers of Wyvern boys and is always fun. The Year 2 class group have worked very hard to ensure that everyone will be catered for, so mark it down in your diary.
K-2 FATHER & SON CAMP
This weekend the K-2 Father & Son camp kicks off and there will be lots of fun activities. Bring spare towels and clothes in case of any accidental, “spontaneous” water fights. Costa Mina will be organising parts of the event so if you would like to assist please contact Costa direct. A big THANK YOU to everyone involved in the camp organisation.
Please contact Costa Mina at cmina@reality-check.com.au
3-6 FATHER & SON CAMP – SOLD OUT
Due to popular demand, the camp is now SOLD OUT. The camp has attracted bookings from just under 150 families, a huge increase from last year, and the volunteer organisers are currently working to allocate sites for everyone. Due to limited space on Cockatoo Island, we are not able to accept any more bookings. Camp conveners will contact all parents that have booked for the camp over the next week.
It’s a Halloween Theme so be scared, be very scared…
TUCKSHOP ON LINE
We are online….. All lunch orders will now be completed via SPACES – my student account. Load your funds up for that special lunch order for your son. Boys can still bring a small amount of money in to purchase from the Tuckshop. You can pre-plan all of your lunches for the whole week.

Any comments or suggestion to help assist with the school are certainly welcome. Drop me an email, my computer is always running.
We are also looking for a position of Secretary for the P&F Executive Committee as due to study commitments, Sharne will be stepping down from her role. The role of Secretary is to keep documentation of all meetings and coordinate any communications to committee members and parents.
If you are interested, please email me directly. It is a great position to be able to assist the school and students and its fun, not hard work.
