P & F News and Events

WHAT A WEEKEND  – AND EVERYONE WAS SHINING!

Back to Newington day – September 7th was a huge success. Thank you to all the families who attended. There was amazing food, amazing sport and amazing people all helping us celebrate the day. A huge thank you goes to Nicole Newson, Emma Cope and Phil Argy. Phil supplied his ‘personal’ slushy machine, which was the hit of the day.

In the background Wyvern had many volunteer parents helping out. From those mums who dipped the chocolate strawberries to the mums and dads that helped out on the children activities on the day –  we can’t thank you enough for the support you gave to Wyvern.

What was the highlight…. too many to list but here is a few

  • Dr Hurst being dunked in the dunking machine
  • Slushies
  • Taste of Tonga from our very own Wyvern Tongan families
  • Slushies
  • Market stalls with so many beautiful items
  • Slushies
  • Kids activities that kept them entertained for the day

Thank you for a fantastic day from the market stalls to the Tongan festival of food as it was a fabulous day with a great sense of community.

FATHERS DAY GIFTS

Many thanks must go to Year 5 parents, Anne Potter, Kerry Maxwell, Sandy Palmer, Catherine Dwyer and Andrea Schlaphoff who organised and distributed the fantastic Fathers Day gifts to the boys.

FATHERS DAY BREAKFAST

What an outstanding event for the fathers and grandfathers of Wyvern. A great line up of superstars of sport attended the father’s day breakfast and for a Wyvern first… outside in the sunshine.

Thank you to the Year 2 organising committee led by Sarah Pussell and Kathy Burshtein with many more helpers on the day for a fabulous morning. Also, big thanks to Lote Tuqiri for taking the time out of his training schedule to attend the morning, even with a game that night he still was able to meet and greet all the boys.

SWIMMING TOWELS

Swimming towels are back…. the first week of term 4 will be the start of the swimming program for 5 weeks. Boys are required to bring

  • Swimmers – black with Newington
  • Towel
  • Goggles
  • Bag to carry items (light weight back pack available at uniform shop – $20)

Orders can be paid online or via the attached form to be delivered to the front office.  Towels will be available last week of term 3. For towel order form, click here.

YEAR 5 & 6 MUSICAL

On Wednesday 18th September, the Wyvern Music department and the boys from Year 5 and Year 6 will perform The Jungle book – The Musical at Centenary Hall. This year the Wyvern P&F have sponsored the event to assist the Music department putting on a great show with props and costumes to suit the event.

Do not forget to come along as the musical starts at 6:30pm – so don’t be late.

BUS UPDATE

A very busy and active mum Phyllis Peterson has been actively gathering names for a petition to make the bus stop area on Victoria road a safer bus stop for the boys. She is still currently gathering names. If you would like any further information about the bus stop please contact Phyllis directly phyllispeterson@optusnet.com.au

Thank you Phyllis for bringing this safety matter to the attention of the P&F and the local government. Let’s see if we can make it a safer bus stop.
