P & F News and Events

Hello!

The Kindy Pizza Party was so much fun. More than a hundred people gathered in the Mary Andrews Garden on a lovely Friday evening. Our Kindy children and their siblings had a great time playing games and making pizza for our dinner – and it tasted great! It felt a bit like a birthday party. A few fathers were being great helpers and I kept an eye out to see if there were any prospects who could be successors for ‘pizza dad’ Rob Jablonski who will be going to high school after next year.

You may think I’m joking about the succession plan, but we do have a legitimate call out for Kindy and Year 1 parents interested in taking on an apprenticeship for our woodfire oven. We will take volunteers from other year groups, we just thought that Kindy and Year 1 apprentices would have a longer time in the role. The first ‘on the job’ training opportunity is coming up really soon at the Great Garden Party on Friday, 4 April, from 3:00pm-5:00pm.

All year groups have well and truly started their preparation

  • Kindy – cupcake decorating (yum)
  • Year 1 – smash a jaffa and putt putt golf
  • Year 2 – pot decorating
  • Year 3 – second hand bookshop
  • Year 4 – chocolate strawberries and marshmellows (yum)
  • Year 5 with pizza chef apprentices – pizza stall (yum)
  • Year 6 – refreshment stand (yum)

If you’re interested in a one-off volunteering opportunity and would like to help out on the day please contact your class parent(s).

The other really good volunteering opportunity coming up is the Wyvern Music Weekend on 24-25 May. This is an important musical activity for our boys, many of who are in choir and/or a band. We will need some volunteers for afternoon tea on the 24th as well as morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea on 25 May (the lunch shift will need BBQ experts). If you’re interested please email Creative Arts Support Team Lead Nicole Newson.

Finally, dads, I’ve had a sneak peak at the Mother’s Day gift catalogue put together by my fellow Year 5 mums and it’s wonderful. A great range of gifts at a great range of prices – there’s something for every mum.
