Tournament of Minds
On Sunday 9 September, the Tournament of Minds team competed in the NSW State Finals held at the University of New South Wales. They represented the College and Sydney East in the Maths Engineering division. We are extremely pleased to report that the boys were awarded First Place in their division and now progress to the ‘Australasian Pacific Final’ being held in Perth from the 18-21 October.
The boys performed superbly under pressure in both a long-term and spontaneous challenge. Their task was to construct a device that clearly demonstrated the three symmetrical elements of rotation, translation and reflection. This was then to be incorporated into a 10 minute dramatic presentation, explaining the importance of such a device. The boys demonstrated outstanding collaboration whilst completing their challenge and showed immense respect for the other teams competing. We wish the boys well in their preparation for the Australasian Pacific Final.
Congratulations boys!
