Year 5 Camp Recount and Photos
Muddy Madness At Camp!
Year 5 had an amazingly exquisite time at The Great Aussie Bush Camp, Tea Gardens in Week 1 thanks to the experienced organisers and teachers. These wonderful events made several unforgettable memories for us as a grade; such forcing, (well encouraging), Miss Dillon to get her face covered in grime and mud throughout the mud run!
On day one we had raft building which was quite hilarious. There were 3 groups which had limited wood, rope and finally inflatable tires. We all were extremely excited until all our rafts broke and we had to carry the floating destruction while we tirelessly dragged it along.
After the activities in the morning and afternoons, we had the famous Aussie Bush Camp snow cones. Thankfully, I brought a big cup. After this, we sat down on the logs and ate our snow cones. Groups then changed and got ready for their next activity. Some of us got ready for the mud run.
The mud run was really fun, and we all got ourselves nice ‘n’ dirty! After the obstacles everyone went to have a blissfully long shower while I waited in the cold… but I wasn’t alone.
On day two we had a mapping task which involved a compass; this is called orienteering. We had to find clues and complete the riddle. During this we saw heaps of kangaroos and joeys which we ended up showing Miss Dillon. I had never seen her run so fast in my life on the trail to see the kangaroos. At the end, I was over the moon that our team had won! I don’t think I’ve won anything in about 10 years. And went on in day two for my second. (Which I’ll explain later).
After that we went to the high ropes which was absolutely hysterical! When Miss Dillon was on the ropes she looked so scared, the look on her face made everyone laugh. It was impossible not to. I had made a deal with Miss Dillon that if she didn’t fall off the high ropes and use the harness I would go to the top of the giant swing which was coming up next. And she somehow did it! I didn’t even want to go on the giant swing!
We did the swing, and I went to the top which was the last activity of the day. My face might have looked crazy but Miss Dillon squealed like she was watching a horror movie in real life.
On day three we had the crate climb which was when I had my literal second win in 10 years as Harry E and I stacked an immense amount of crates up. And that was it for the activities and camp unfortunately. I had a great time even though I hadn’t eaten proper food and hadn’t had a proper shower in 3 days.
Thank you Great Aussie Bush Camp for the best camp experience!
