Year 6 WW1 Project

Last Tuesday the boys from Year 6 turned Wyvern Hall into their own branch of the Newington Archives and shared their research into the lives of World War 1 soldiers.

We invited special guests Mr Holden, Mr Baker, Mrs Raven, Mr Bosman and Mr Roberts (Archivist) to come and view our work as well as all our peers.

Each boy in Year 6 was allocated the name of a World War 1 soldier to research. The one common link that they all shared was a connection with Newington College. Each boy in Year 6 embarked upon an individual journey of historical inquiry and personal learning. The end products were diverse, detailed and outstanding. When asked to share their major learning achieved by completing the task the overwhelming response from the boys was that they had strengthened their empathy muscle.
