A Message from Mr Holden

The final term of 2018 is rapidly disappearing. Despite this I am impressed by the purposeful and calm tone evident in all Wyvern classrooms. This was especially the case last week when we held orientation mornings for 80 new boys and their families. I thank the many parents who assisted on the days and gave such a warm welcome to our new Wyvern families.

We have been overwhelmed by your generosity in supporting the Barnardos Christmas Tree Appeal which this year is focussing on providing gift vouchers for teenagers in need of support.  So far Wyvern families have donated 188 vouchers. We are just shy of 12 more vouchers to reach our goal of 200 to complete the Christmas tree. This is a fantastic effort, which will be very much appreciated by Barnardos.

At this evening’s P&F Annual General Meeting, a number of the P&F Executive team will be stepping down from their roles after many years of service to Wyvern. I thank Lillian Fadel, Teresa Lewis, Dita Alafaci, Cathy Cooper and Amanda Pattison for their wonderful support of Wyvern boys and families.

Artists of the Week

K – 2 Artists of the Week

Year 2 have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of printmaking this semester.  They used their recently finished pineapple paintings as inspiration and then ‘sketch etched’ the design into the foam printing plate.  The boys then worked through the block printing process to lift a print.  Congratulations to Fred L’Estrange 2H, George Pahis 2H, Adam Saab 2S and Kasra Gorjipour 2S . Fantastic pineapples, boys!

Barnardos Christmas Appeal – only 12 vouchers to go!

The Wyvern Christmas Tree has had another growth spurt!

Help finish building the tree by donating to the Barnardos Christmas Appeal. Only 12 vouchers are needed to complete the tree!

We will once again be supporting Barnardos Gifts for Kids for our Wyvern Christmas Appeal and this year Barnardos has made a special request to support ‘Teenagers’.

Each year we are constantly amazed with your generosity to support families less fortunate and once again we are seeking your support, but for teenagers only. In order to make a difference we are asking that you donate Gift Cards & Vouchers ONLY.

All donations can be popped in the gold box located beside the tree in the reception area. Donations will be accepted until the middle of November. This will enable Barnardos to ensure timely distribution of gift cards and vouchers for Christmas.

We thank you in advance for your wonderful support of this incredible cause and know that your generosity will definitely make a difference to these young people this Christmas.

Faith Matters

God’s intention

‘You created all things … by Your will.’ Revelation 4:11

Revelation tells us that God created everything, including us. That He planned us. It’s always been his will that we exist. It hasn’t always gone to plan. But, despite that, God still chooses us, so much so that He became human, died and broke down the barriers between us and Him. When Jesus died, ‘The veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom’, opening up the place where only the High Priest was allowed, where God’s presence was. Because of that decision, we can approach Him at any time. It took the death of a King to make it possible to chat to our Father, anywhere, anytime, in any state.

That’s not the plan of a distant god who happened to throw human-shaped things together and thought they were alright. That is a God who ‘chose us… before the creation of the world’.

Let that sink in.

So what does that mean for you? You are God’s intention. However you feel, whatever anyone else thinks of you, He made you and delights in you.
