A Message from Mr Holden
The final term of 2019 is rapidly disappearing. Despite this I am impressed by the purposeful and calm tone evident in all Wyvern classrooms. This was especially the case last week when we held orientation mornings for new boys. I thank the many Wyvern parents who assisted by giving families new to Wyvern such a warm welcome.
It was terrific to see the wide ranging art works on display at the Wyvern Biennale last week held in the Concordia Gallery. Like all who visited the exhibition, I was so impressed by the quality of our students’ creative works. A special thank you to our art teaching team (Meredith Buining and Yelena Rubie) for their considerable efforts in setting up and running the event. Also thank you to the many parents who took the time to visit the Biennale.
Many of you will be aware that there has been a change of the College’s catering supplier with Chartwells taking on the new contract. We are fortunate that our very good canteen team, with Katia at the helm, will remain at Wyvern. As part of the new and enhanced arrangements, we are no longer reliant on parent volunteers to assist with running the daily operation. However, as we are keen to maintain our volunteering culture the P & F will continue to organise a parent canteen roster for Fridays, or any other day where there is a “special”. This arrangement will start in 2020.
A reminder that once again we are supporting Barnardos’ Christmas Tree Appeal which this year is focussing on providing gift vouchers for teenagers. Our goal is to have 200 vouchers to donate by the end of November. Many thanks in advance for your support which will be very much appreciated by Barnardos.
At yesterday’s P&F Annual General Meeting, a number of the P&F Executive team stepped down from their roles after many years of service to Wyvern. I thank Sara Flaksbard, Yamila Veloz, Gwyneth Howell and Rosaria Cusumano for their wonderful support of Wyvern boys and families.
