A Message from Mr Holden

After a full few days at the start of term it is very pleasing to see our Wyvern students settling into the routines and expectations of the new academic year. A special mention must go to our Kindergarten cohort who have done exceptionally well transitioning into formal school life. The high levels of independence our youngest boys are showing is very impressive.

Thank you for joining us this week for our ‘meet the teacher’ information session via zoom. In case you missed the meeting, a video recording of each year group’s session will be posted on the relevant Spaces page next week.

A quick reminder that supervision of school students commences no earlier than 8:00am each morning. Please ensure students do not arrive earlier than this time unless your son is at Before School Care, catching a bus or involved in a morning club activity.

Most extra-curricular clubs and activities will start from next week. Please see the attached list in this newsletter for further information.

Photography Permissions

As part of our general housekeeping, we would like to make sure parents remain happy for us to use images of their son/s in the ways outlined in our enrolment agreement (below):

  1. I/We give permission for photographs and videos of the student to be held in the College’s records, displayed from time to time around the College, and published in School publications, on its website and in other marketing and promotional material, including social media. I/We understand that we may withdraw this permission by giving notice in writing to the Head of Campus or the Deputy Head of Stanmore (Students), as relevant. I/We acknowledge that the College will seek my/our consent before naming the student in photographs or videos in any External College Publication.

Some parents will have received personal emails in the past requesting permission to use an image of their son in advertising for the College. In future, we would like to regard advertising as ‘marketing and promotional material’ and consider permission has been granted unless correspondence has been received. For parents, this might mean a few less emails; for us, it will mean choosing images confident in the knowledge all permissions are in place.

If you do not want your son to appear in Newington marketing and promotional material, please email communications@newington.nsw.edu.au

Artists of the Week

3-6 Artist of the Week

This week’s Artist of the Week is to acknowledge Marcus Taylor’s 2020 ‘Bird Artwork’.  Marcus completed this work in the last weeks of Term 4. His beautiful painting of a Lyrebird is a wonderful example of using his noticing skills and some sophisticated painting skills.

Congratulations Marcus.
