A Message from Mr Holden

All students are now very much into the rhythm of this term and as part of this, it’s good to see many boys taking the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular clubs, before and after school. Please note that in the case of late pickup after an afternoon club, boys will be sent to CommunityOSH for safe supervision. Can I please encourage all parents to register their sons for the school’s CommunityOSH in case your son needs to access the facility in unforeseen circumstances? Click here.

In place of our normal parent workshops, when teachers present information about some of our key learning strategies, we will be providing some videos that parents can access in their own time. The first two of these are about how we approach literacy development at Wyvern via ‘THRASS’ and ‘Big Write’, click here. Further videos will be coming out in due course.

A reminder that the bus zone is not to be used by parents for either dropping off or picking up your sons at the designated times.

Can I request that if you wish to celebrate your son’s birthday at school by sharing a special treat with the class, only one item should be sent into school, e.g. small cupcakes and no party bags.

Finally, a reminder that next weekend is the Newington Long Weekend with the college being closed on Monday 15 March.

Artist of the Week

K – 2 Artist of the Week

Year 1 have worked in oil pastel and watercolour to explore a creative representation of the sun.  Jackson, Luke and Ted made excellent use of a variety of lines to indicate the movement of light and heat.  They demonstrated pleasing craftsmanship and stretched their creativity to explore multiple ways of representing the sun.  Fabulous work boys.

3-6 Artist of the Week

This week’s Artist of the Week goes to 2 lucky boys in Year 3. The boys have been studying the topic of ‘Celebrations’. In the last couple of weeks they have been focusing on the Mexican “Day of the Dead’. The boys discussed this holiday focusing on the sugar skulls and what they represent.

Congratulations to Flynn Fildissis and Nicholas Harper for their amazing pattern work in the Mexican Style.

Wyvern SRC Food Drive

In conjunction with The Centre for Ethics guest speaker, Craig Foster, the Wyvern SRC welcomes your donations of unexpired goods and non-perishables. These will be passed on to some of our most vulnerable people in our local community. A wonderful way for our boys to show kindness & generosity.

If you would like to help follow our 3 easy steps to donate:

1. Bring in any unexpired non-perishable item

2. Drop your donation into class

3. Food collected will be donated to Addison Road Community Organisation
