The Great Aussie Bush Camp – Kincumber Year 4 2016
Wow! What a camp!
We flew high. Climbed through the mud. Swung amongst the top of trees. Climbed higher than ever before. Learnt how to survive in the bush and also had the best time away on camp.
All boys in Year 4 attended The Great Aussie Bush Camp last week. Led by Ms Prizmic, Ms Vuong and Mr Cross the boys experienced life outside of Wyvern. Some of the activities included climbing 15 metres up a tree and also experienced the giant swing where boys were dropped from 16 metres in a free fall that left many stomachs floating in the air. All activities saw boys flex their collaborative muscles and presevere through tough challenges. An anticipated activity during the time away was the now famous Lost World (Mud Run). After the hype from last year’s experience, boys were more than excited to get down and dirty. All students braved the cold muddy conditions and battled through various obstacles whilst being totally covered in mud.
During the nights boys were treated to two amazing activities. The first night saw boys running businesses and making well-earned Bush Dollars. The second night saw the largest game of spotlight occur. Students braved the cold, harsh conditions to save a few hostages only to be stopped by teachers hiding in the dark forest armed with a spotlight to catch boys’ sneaking through. Well-earned refreshments were had by the boys afterwards whilst sitting around a camp fire listening to one of the many famous camp fire stories that were told.
A big thank you needs to go out to all the teachers and boys that attended The Great Aussie Bush Camp. Ask any teacher or student and I’m sure you will hear nothing but praise. Year 3 boys are already preparing for this excellent bonding experience away.
