The future is New!
On Saturday 17 September over 520 parents from the Stanmore, Lindfield and Wyvern campuses came together for the Newington Ball at the Four Points by Sheraton.
The theme of the night, ‘The Future is New’, promoted the Newington College Endowment Fund and the College’s goal of providing 100 fully funded bursaries to boys of potential and demonstrated need by 2040. Masters of Ceremonies and Newington parents, Mrs Kylie Gillies and Mr Craig Reucassel, guided guests through what life would be like by the year 2040.
A highlight of the evening was “The future is New” video; the P&F asked Wyvern, Lindfield and Year 7 Stanmore boys to imagine their future and that of the College in 2040. They asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” “What will school be like in 30 years’ time?” You can view the video by clicking here.
A huge thank you to Newington parent, Mr Matthew Cleary, who spent over 45 hours editing the six minute video.
Dinner, dancing and bidding on live and silent auction items created a vibe of excitement that was sustained throughout the night. Endowment Fund Ambassador, Mr Justin Bosilkovski (ON 2005), gave an emotional speech that paid a special tribute to his mother Suzi, while Chairman of the Newington College Council, Mr Tony McDonald (ON 1976), gave a passionate presentation about the diversity that the Endowment Fund brings to the College.
Thank you to all the parents that attended the Ball and also to those that assisted with set up, donating prizes and making pledges. The night could not have been a success without the focused and functional Mrs Kylie Ann Mayer, Mrs Julie Gigg and Mrs Marnie Reid – thank you.
Through the generosity of our many sponsors and supporters, and those who attended the night, we are pleased to announce that our fundraising target was well and truly achieved with $167,488 raised for the Endowment Fund.
Our thanks go to the Newington Support Groups who also gave generously to the fund, helping us exceed our target of $100,000. Our focus will continue in 2017 and beyond to support the Endowment Fund.
Former Stanmore P&F President – Andrew Loveridge, proudly handed over the cheque which calculated the total contributions from the Ball during the P&F AGM on Tuesday 8 November 2016.
