A very enjoyable country reunion was again held in Orange NSW on Saturday 6 October 2018. This was the second occasion that such an event was held, the first being last year and this was even bigger and better!

ON’s from Orange and the surrounding district and Sydney plus many partners attended, making a total of thirty one. The function was again held at the historic Duntryleague Guest House in Orange where a lovely meal was enjoyed in pleasant and private surroundings overlooking section of the golf course.

We were honoured by having with us Nick Farr-Jones AM (ON 1979), Dr Martin Roebuck and John Williams (ON 1958), who had all played for Australia as Wallaby members.  Nick Farr-Jones was our keynote speaker and was supported by Dr Roebuck. Dr Roebuck did not attend Newington, but he was invited to surprise Nick, as they had been team-mates. Nick spoke of some of his earlier experiences at the college and both spoke of their time as a rugby player and of overseas tours. Their reminiscences were both very interesting and informative.

Again, our efforts were led by George James (ON 1957), assisted by his wife Bianca. We would like to make this an annual event and to even expand our informal and unofficial committee! Any volunteers? We would also like to increase our numbers attending and hopefully a favourable word will spread. Our aim next year is to have 50 in attendance! We will also explore other venues and other formats. Again, we would be happy to hear of ideas and recommendations. Contact email addresses are below.
