Cross Country
Newington had seventeen boys represent at the CIS Cross Country out at Eastern Creek on Thursday13 June. There were some fantastic results across the age groups
18 years 8km Patrick Elliott (12/ME) – 2nd
17 years 6km Morgan McDonald (12/MO) – 1st
14 years 4km Callum Lowe-Griffiths (9/PR) – 2nd
12 years 3km Matt Dyster (7/FL) – 1st
The above boys have been selected for the NSW State Cross Country All Schools Championships on 19 July 19.
David Charlton (8/MA) and Oliver Smith (7/MA) have been named as reserves for the State Carnival.

Trinity Relay
The Trinity Relay was held Saturday 15 June. The highlight of the day was the U14 team. Not only did they win but set a new course record. The team of Callum Lowe-Griffiths (9/PR), Matt Dyster (7/FL), David Charlton (8/MA) and Lawrence Neil- Smith (8/JN).
The team finished 16th overall out of one hundred teams from all age groups. The open team finished 4th and the U16 team finished 23rd overall and 6th in their age group.

Newington has gained good representation in the AAGPS Football teams for the games this week. In particular we would like to acknowledge James Holland (12/FL) who has been named captain of the 1st XI

Water Polo
Wil Cotterill (11/LE) and Anthony Hrysanthos (12/ME), Nick Dempsey, Cody Ingram, James Butcher, Keegan Wicken and Nick Bertino part of the Sydney University team that recently won the gold medal at the Australian U18 Men’s water polo championships held at the AIS in Canberra. Anthony was the captain of the team, and was also awarded the Goalie of the tournament title.
Also playing in this team were Nick Dempsey (12/ME), Cody Ingram (11/LE), James Butcher (11/ME), Keegan Wicken (11/ME) and Nick Bertino (10/FL).
Wil, Nick and James Smith (12/ KL) have been selected in the Australian 96 born team to tour Europe in August this year. They will travel to Croatia, Hungary and Germany and play in two tournaments whilst in Europe. This tour is a lead up to the World U18 Championships to be held in Russia in 2014.
Wil and James Smith are also representing NSW All schools at the Australian All Schools Water polo championships to be held in Perth later this month.
