Imagine a Vibrant Library Hub!
Hello from the new Head of Library Services! My name is Crystal Choi, and I recently joined the Newington College staff and school community (make that very recently—I’m currently in my second week at school!)
To give you a little bit of background about me- I am a qualified primary school teacher and a qualified librarian. I’ve worked in both public and academic libraries and my last role was at the University of Sydney Library, as the Faculty Liaison Librarian supporting the School of Biological Sciences.
I’m really excited about the new library space, which is going up before our very eyes. I imagine that the new library space will be a vibrant and central hub in the School community, which is a busy, user friendly, inviting, exciting and dynamic place where boys and staff love to come, using it as a centre of learning and knowledge and a place to relax.
When you walk through the doors of the library I imagine seeing lots of boys doing lots of different things- reading, writing, studying, plugged into their devices, playing a board game, doing group work or just chilling out with a magazine or book. I hope that it will be a buzzy hive of activity that becomes a real centre for learning.
I’ve already had the pleasure of meeting many staff and students in the school community and I look forward to meeting many more. If you see me around, come and say hi.
Ms Crystal Choi
