Science Week
Wyvern celebrated ‘Science Week’ with a bang. Three ‘Chemistry Chaos’ shows were led by Year 6 which left the audience spellbound. All year groups could watch one of three shows at various lunchtimes. We marvelled at the ever flowing dry ice in water, Mentos fountains in Diet Coke, giant bubbles and many more chemistry experiments. Science week was evident in all the classes and here are some examples: Year 1 focused on the cycle of life in plants and designed, made and tested a pollinator which was created from a range of set materials. Year 2 continued their chemistry topic by finding out why oil always floats to the top of water. Also that detergent molecules are attracted to both water and oil. Year 3 created tornados in bottles linked to their Weather topic and Year 5 will enjoy a Fizzics show on Friday. Year 6 led the week and were all great role models of scientists willing to fail and try again in the name of Science. All in all a wonderful and engaging ‘Science Week’ was evident at Wyvern.
