Artist of the Week

K – 2 Artists of the Week

(From L to R)

Hayden Hsieh KL

Hayden experimented with clay as a material for drawing his face. His finishing touches to the work using bronze coloured paint make his artwork look like a bronze sculpture.

Jordan Nguyen 1W

Jordan was able to remember the artist’s rules of linear perspective in his gentle watercolour landscape.

Benjamin Nichol 2H

Benjamin looked carefully at the still life painting by Giorgio Morandi and created his own collaged version of the work.

Rohan George 2S

Rohan looked diligently at Paul Cezanne’s paintings of apples. His observational drawing of a real apple using oil pastel showed light and dark colours to make them appear three dimensional.

Years 3 – 6 Artists of the Week

Year 6

Year 6 completed their homage to Anzac warriors, by completing assemblage works using a variety of mediums, including rust and gel.

The task was to create an artwork with a sombre mood. Students were asked to think about how it might have felt for the Anzacs landing in a foreign place and having to fight under extreme conditions. Students were asked how they could make images that were both sombre and thoughtful.

Congratulations to Liam Spiropoulos, Fletcher Jakes, Kim Long Lam, and Sachin Spencer (L to R)

Students also finished their ceramic ‘Warriors’. Students reflected on what makes a ‘Warrior’. Discussions involved traits from ‘minions’ to football players.

Congratulations to Simon Petsianis for his Roman Warrior and Jack Purkis for his mash up of a Viking, Nordic warrior (L to R)

Students have just finished working on their Sketchbook Ink- iPad app digital art. Students were introduced to Del Kathryn Barton and her portraits with animal familiars. This coincided with their class work on ‘Change’. Students were required to complete a portrait using the app and then find an animal to morph with the face, creating a surreal artwork.

Congratulations to  Max Gallant, Angus Montrose, and Joshua Smith for their cleverly rendered artworks (L to R)
