A Message from Mr Holden
I have been very pleased to see all students maintain such good focus in classrooms over the first half of the term. With so many activities in this busy last part of the year, it is particularly important for boys to sustain a positive commitment to all areas of school life. One area that I would like to see improved is boys wearing their school caps to and from school. The cap is very much part of the uniform, therefore, your support and attention to this requirement would be much appreciated.
Staff News
Ms Cathy Shugg, Visual Art teacher, has informed me that she will be leaving Wyvern at the end of the school year in order to be spend more time with her family. Since joining the school in 2007 Cathy has transformed Wyvern’s Art program into a vibrant and outstanding area of the school. Cathy has inspired Wyvern boys to appreciate practical and creative arts and has ignited many flames of creative passion for many students. Cathy will, of course, be sorely missed and we offer her every best wish for her future pathways.
I am delighted that following a rigorous recruitment process, Mrs Meredith Buining will be joining us in 2013 as our 3-6 Visual Art Teacher. Mrs Buining is an experienced Art Educator as well as a professional artist and is currently working at Masada College in the primary school. We look forward to welcoming Mrs Buining to Wyvern next year.
I welcome Mrs Emma Clemens who has recently joined the Wyvern staff as our ICT Learning Integrator. Mrs Clemens brings significant teaching and technological expertise. Her previous role was Curriculum Coordinator, Year 5 Teacher at the Covenant Christian School, Sydney.
Class Placement 2013
In the next two weeks I will be writing to parents informing you about your son’s class placement for 2013. We take enormous care when considering class placement of students for the next academic year. We always try to form balanced, purposeful and co-operative classes in which each boy is able to make excellent progress. In doing so, we take into account many different aspects of a student’s school life including;
- Academic ability and educational needs
- Relationships with other students
- Behaviour
- Personality
- Interests
- Pastoral needs
- Relevant information from parents (please note, the deadline for this was end of Term 3)
Students will meet their 2013 class teacher on “One Up” morning on Tuesday 4 December.
Mr Ian Holden
Head of Wyvern
