A Message from Mr Holden
It has certainly been a busy few days at Wyvern especially with our Literature Festival last week. The boys thoroughly enjoyed the stimulating and exciting activities with a highlight being the Book Character Parade, so well supported by parents. Again, I thank Mrs Barnes for her mighty efforts in organising another successful festival as well as the Wyvern P&F for their financial support of this event.
Last Thursday the P&F hosted a Mother’s Day breakfast which was very much appreciated by both Wyvern mums and their sons. Such functions cannot go ahead without tremendous effort and hard work from parent volunteers. I thank the P&F executive team and especially Sara Flaksbard and Katia Pizzinelli (Tuckshop) for putting on a superb event.
With NAPLAN testing completed for this year I congratulate the students and staff in Year 3 and Year 5 for their calm and measured approach with the testing arrangements this week. We seek to strike a good balance between ensuring the boys are adequately prepared for the NAPLAN testing format whilst providing an environment which is calm and as stress free as possible. Results of the NAPLAN tests are due back late in Term 3. Whilst our results are consistently very strong, we will nonetheless carefully analyse the data to assist us to continually improve our teaching and learning strategies.
