We were treated to a stunning day last week for our Years 3-6 Prep Schools’ Athletics Carnival. It was wonderful to see the high level of participation and enjoyment from boys as well as tremendous ‘House Spirit’. There were a number of excellent individual performances including two long standing records being broken. Well done to Bililign Robertson who broke a 32 year old record for the senior 800 metres and Sam Walker who broke a 9 year old junior discus record. The Lucas senior relay team also broke the relay record. Well done to all for a tremendous day.

My thanks to the P&F for their wonderful efforts with ‘Back to Newington Day’ on Saturday. Their addition of stalls aimed at younger children made the event hugely enjoyable for all ages. A special mention to the Wyvern U12 rugby and football teams who played very well in short games against Lindfield Prep prior to the 1st XV and 1st XI games.

Last week the College underwent a thorough inspection by NSW Board of Studies Teaching and Educational Standards (BOSTES) as part of the College’s registration and accreditation requirement. The lead inspector gave exceptionally positive feedback about all areas of our learning programs, our approach to student care and all our other policies and procedures. Ms Sandra Gray, Deputy K-3 deserves particular praise for overseeing the process leading up to and during the inspection.

The Wyvern Choir performed superbly well at last week’s Founder’s Concert and certainly did not look out of place amongst the elite ensembles of the Senior School. Bravo for contributing to such an outstanding concert.

Finally, congratulation to Mr Tony Cross (Year 4 Team Leader) and his wife Laetitia on the arrival of their baby daughter, George Daisy Cross.
