A Message from Mr Holden
As we approach the halfway point of the term I am pleased to see the boys continuing with their excellent settled and hardworking start to the year. Students who joined us at the beginning of term have integrated so well into the Wyvern community and are making the most of a broad range of activities offered here – before, during and after school. I have been so impressed by the fine manners and conduct of all students, an area of school life frequently commented on by our numerous visitors to the school.
At last week’s well attended P and F meeting I outlined our main areas of strategic development for the coming 12 months. These include:
- Detailed planning for the implementation of the new English National Curriculum in 2014
- Phase 2 of our Wyvern learning framework, “Building Learning Power”
- Second year roll out of the Bring Your Own Device (iPad) strategy for Year 5 students, including working with Sydney University on an international iPad research project
- Promoting Newington Spaces as a key communication tool between home and school
- Ensuring full community awareness and encouraging keen participation of all sesquicentenary events.
To ensure transparency and good communication I have posted the detailed Wyvern 2013 strategic action plan on Wyvern Spaces.
Finally, I hope the Year 3 students and staff enjoy their school sleepover tonight in the Wyvern Hall. The social benefits of such events are enormous . I thank staff and parents for their support of this event
Mr Ian Holden
