HEADING TO THE FINISH LINE FOR TERM 1

As we complete week 7 of Term 1, we should all take time to reflect back on all the things we have completed in this first term. Small achievements such as, learning to tie shoelaces or ties, knowing that it takes an extra 10 minutes on a Friday to get to school or even meeting new families that will be around for a life time. Discover what is possible, is the college mantra and I think we all discover things ourselves everyday with our children. Take the time and have some fun!

With having fun in mind… the Women of Wyvern dinner is on this Friday night and WOW what a response. Tickets were sold out 2 weeks prior to  the event and then we had to beg the venue to add an extra table to accommodate all that wanted to attend. Thank you to Sally, Tahnee and Sam from Year 4 who have been pulling the event together by having lunch at different venues, checking the wine, listening to the entertainment and smelling the flowers. With all of that research, it is going to be a smashingly good night. I hope everyone has gone out and purchased a new outfit for feeling WOW (good excuse for a new dress!) Looking forward to seeing everyone in your finest.

The Literature Festival is coming up so encourage your sons to make the most of  the authors and discussions that the school is providing. Wyvern P&F supports this valuable week by a contribution to the College for the speakers etc so in a small way we are helping the boys get that “love of reading”. Looking forward to the Book Parade which is always a fun day so get out your creative juices!

There are still some tickets available to the Newington 150 Years in Sport to be held on Friday 22nd March. If you have any donations such as a beauty service, weekend away, wine, dinner venues, please send me an email so I can discuss further options. There will be lucky balloons and I hear there are some great prizes available. Please send details to:

Shorty after the Easter break, we will be holding The Great Garden Party – Friday 5th April. Each year group has been assigned a stall for the afternoon of fun. Please contact your class parent for details of how you can assist. There will be “Smash a Jaffa”, decorate a plant pot, make your own creative cupcake, second hand books and yummy, yummy, yummy, CHOCOLATE COATED STRAWBERRIES. Homemade lemonade, tea/coffee and water will be available to wash it all down with. Click here for Class Parent lists.

A great afternoon of carefree fun at school.

In Term 2, all the boys are required to wear winter uniform. This consists of grey blazer, long sleeve striped shirt and winter weight shorts. Come down to the Uniform Shop for all of these items prior to the end of end Term 1. The Uniform Shop will not be open during the school holiday break. There are also many other items available, such as Newington badges to reward your son in areas that he may have achieved great results or just applied himself well. Badges include rugby, swimming, music, basketball and Football (soccer).

If you have any feedback, questions, comments about the school or the P&F, please contact myself, my email door is always open.
