A Message from Mr Holden

A reminder that this year’s Annual Wyvern Prize Giving for students in Years 3 – 6 will take place in Centenary Hall on Wednesday 4 December at 9:00am. Students are asked to meet their class teachers at the Senior School outside the Music Centre (next to Centenary Hall) no later than 8:30am wearing summer uniform minus black cap. Boys performing in various music ensembles are required to arrive earlier and will be notified of those arrangements in the next few days. Following Prize Giving we invite parents and students to join the Wyvern staff for morning tea under the space frame area near to the gym.

I thank the staff team for their dedication, hard work and commitment shown to Wyvern students in 2019. Mr Hugh Scott (Year 1 teacher) will be leaving Wyvern at the end of the year due to his family relocating to Northern NSW. I thank Mr Scott and acknowledge his wonderful contribution to Wyvern boys and parents over the last 8 years and wish him every success for his future pathways. After 23 years of service Mrs Karen O’Brien will be retiring from her administration role in the Wyvern office. Mrs O Brien has made a superb contribution supporting the Wyvern community and will be very much missed. We wish Karen many happy retirement years ahead. I also thank Ms Lee (Mandarin teacher) and Mrs Waples (Acting Head of Strings) for covering their temporary teaching roles so well this year. I wish Mrs Alexandra Miles (Year 3 teacher) every blessing as she commences a period of maternity leave at the start of 2020.

I acknowledge the tremendous parental support that we were so fortunate to receive. I pay tribute to Mr Mick Cronin, President of the P and F and his executive team for their steadfast support of Wyvern.

Finally, I wish you all a wonderful family focussed summer break and festive season. I look forward to seeing boys and families on 28 January for the start of the 2020 academic year.

Year 6 Question Time

Question Time is an inquiry-based learning showcase, which is planned, designed & performed by the students. It aims to incorporate the concepts of Australian identity & humour, the significant contributions of prominent figures to Australia in the 20th century and our core Newington values. Question Time is an interactive showcase, which is designed to inform, persuade and entertain the audience. Here are some photos of the evening.
