2017 Year 12 introduced to the ONU
In a first for Newington, the first day back for the boys was given over to meeting their Mentor and the opportunity for boys and parents to attend a series of seminars throughout the day.
One of these was focussed on Life After Year 12 and was presented by the Headmaster Dr David Mulford and Director of Community and Development Rod Bosman (ON 1978). The Headmaster focussed on university choices, ATARs, schoolies and the like, whilst Rod Bosman had the opportunity to introduce the ONU to many Year 11 and 12 boys that attended.
As all these boys will eventually be ONU Life Members, it was a fantastic opportunity to explain what the ONU was about and some of the benefits of membership. Opportunities such as mentoring and careers advice were discussed and one Year 11 boy asked to be put in touch with any old Boys who are Archaeologists – and we did find one!
During the year, the Office of Community and Development through the Alumni Department will continue to engage with the current Year 12 and we look forward to welcoming them as members of the ONU at year’s end.
